Thailand is about the same size as France. It is in South-East Asia. It used to be called Siam. There are jungles and rainforests, plains and mountains. There are about 68 million people living in Thailand. |
The capital, known as Bangkok in English, is called Krung Thep Maka Nakhon or just Krung Thep in Thai. However, the full name has 21 words in it!
There are 62 recognised ethnic groups in Thailand. The biggest ethnic group is the Thai. Each group have their own traditions. As you can see from the pictures below some people wear very distinctive clothing and jewellery.
