South Korea is on the southern part of the Korean peninsula which is surroundd by the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. After World War II Korea split into two separate states. There is now a demilitarized zone between both states.
School in South Korea
Many children in South Korea go to kindergarten from the age of three. They go to primary school from the age of eight to thirteen. After primary school they go to middle school and high school. Most children in middle schools and high schools have school uniforms. Boys usually wear trousers and white shirts. Girls usually wear skirts and white shirts. Most South Koreans to on to university after they finish high school.
Korean Writing
The Korean alphabet is called Hangul. It is used to write words in the
Korean language. Before Hangul was developed people used the Chinese characters, Hanja. Children still learn Hanja in school but it is rarely used now.
