Popular Sports in Poland
There are lots of interesting sports in Poland: downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, hang gliding, gliding and ice-sailing. Children also like to go sledging on wooden or plastic sledges.
You need to wear special clothes and use special equipment for downhill skiing. Some children as young as two start to learn to ski.

Snowboarders use only one board instead of two like skiers. The snowboard is a bit like a skateboard.
Para-gliders can fly for one or two hours soaring like birds high up in the sky.
Hang-gliders can also soar up high in the sky like birds.
Gliders look like small aeroplanes but they don't have engines. They get pulled along behind a plane until they are in the sky. Then they let go of the plane and soar along on their own like birds.
Some people who live beside lakes like to do ice-sailing in the wintertime because the lakes are frozen.
