Most people in Ireland live in houses but many more people live in apartments. Most modern houses are made of brick. When people walk into an Irish home they keep their shoes on. |
Some apartments have only one or two bedrooms but houses usually have three or more.
In some houses the bathroom and toilet are in the same room but in other houses they are separate.
Some houses and apartments have a kitchen-come-dining room.
Others have a separate living, dining and kitchen areas.
Some houses have only one level but other houses have two or three levels so have stairs.
Most houses have an open fireplace like this one but sometimes they have a stove instead.
Most houses in Ireland have a garden. People generally have a lawn but may also have trees, shrubs and flowers in their garden. Some people also grow fruit and vegetables in their garden.
