History of Boliva
Before the Spanish conquistadors arrived in Bolivia the Andean region was part of the Incan Empire. There were also independent tribes which lived in the northern and eastern lowlands. The conquistadors arrived from Cuzco, in Peru, and Asunción in Paraguay. They took control of the region in the 16th century. The Spanish took the silver from the silver mines and used it to build their empire.
